With hand-painted chess pieces, this chess design records the Battle of Culloden from 1746, which was the war of finality between the French sponsored Jacobites and the Hanoverian British Government in the 1745 Jacobite Rising. It brought the Jacobite cause to restore the House of Stuart to the throne of the Britain to a decisive defeat, with Bonnie Prince Charlie not to see the throne. This war was the last land battle to be fought on mainland Britain. The chess pieces are remarkable in detail. Height of King 4 3/4” (120mm), Suits chessboard with square size 2" (51mm) or 2 1/8” (54mm).
